Oak & Eden

Bandana Illustration

Project Summary

The Challenge

Oak & Eden In-Bottle Finished Whiskey is a first of its kind, pioneering a patented technique called in-bottle finishing, where they place a 5” long spiral cut piece of wood into every bottle of their fully aged whiskey. This technique breaths new life, flavors, and aromas that couldn’t be achieved in a single barrel alone.

After seeing some of my artwork online, they approached me about creating a bandana illustration which they would use in their marketing and events. They gave me free rein to draw whatever I wanted, as long as it was loosely connected to the whiskey distillation process.

The Solution

Moodboarding

We had a pretty tight deadline (about a week). So, I had to work quickly. I knew that I wanted to draw some animals in action. After several thumbnails, I landed on a composition of a bird in flight. That developed into two birds, with whiskey related illustrations in the corners.

The project was a success, and the client requested that I rework the illustration to work on as a table banner in addition to the bandana design.
