Crash

Product Illustrations

Project Summary

The Challenge

Crash is a tool for users to help separate themselves out from the crowd while hunting for a new job. It’s a platform that allows users to build multimedia pitches of themselves and the projects they’ve worked on, rather than just sending in a resume and cover letter.

At the time, they were building a personality typing system related to career interest and needed a product illustrator to help them illustrate each of their 20 different career types. I helped them build an illustrative identity for their brand, and ended up doing several more illustrations than the original archetypes they requested.

The Solution

Moodboarding

We started with moodboarding and tried to identify a cohesive style that would work with their current branding. They had a fun, bright, hopeful brand, and we really wanted to capture that feeling in the drawings.

Sketching

After identifying a potential direction for the illustrations, I worked on several different types of figure illustrations with varying levels of detail. We used these as discussion points to figure out which would work best.

Archetypes

Once we had decided on a direction, I executed all the archetypes. These would be used in their career personality test.

Product Illustrations

We had a blast drawing the archetype illustrations, so several months later, I was approached again with a request to draw several different product illustrations that would be used throughout their website.

Editorial Illustration

I was also commissioned to do an ironman illustration to accommodate a medium article that the founder had written here: https://medium.com/careercrashers/your-own-personal-iron-man-suit-f4eb7d080cc
